West Carleton was a township municipality in Eastern Ontario, Canada, situated in the rural parts of what is now the City of Ottawa, west of Kanata. It was bordered by the Ottawa River to the north. The township came into existence in 1974 through the amalgamation of Torbolton, Fitzroy, and Huntley townships, but in 2001, it merged with other municipalities to form the new city of Ottawa. As of the 2016 Census, West Carleton had a population of 21,547, with a community spread over 630.95 square kilometers, boasting a low population density and a mix of residential and agricultural areas.
