Goulbourn Township, located 20 km southwest of downtown Ottawa, Ontario, was established in 1818, with Richmond as its first major settlement. It encompasses communities like Stittsville, Munster, and Ashton. Stittsville is the largest, benefiting from proximity to Kanata and the Queensway. Goulbourn was amalgamated into Ottawa in 2001. The township's name honors Henry Goulburn, a British undersecretary of state. It has seen steady population growth, reaching 40,010 by the 2016 census. Three-quarters of residents live in Stittsville, while Richmond and rural areas account for the rest.
